I made this card using one of my favourite techniques: napkins. That's right, it's made with a napkin. I've saved napkins from special dinners and used them to make Thank You cards for the hostesses. In this case, I thought this napkin made a nice background. The center is more centered than it looks in this picture. It's the angle.

Stamping
- Using Bumblebee inkpad, stamp two of the largest sunflowers on Bumblebee cardstock.
- Using Old Olive, stamp two each of the larger leaves and the set of smaller leaves (stamp what you see in the image above on the block twice).
- Using Night of Navy, stamp "Let's Celebrate You" on the right of the Midnight Madness cardstock. I stamped lower than halfway down and as far right as I could to make room for the flower focal.
Cutting
- Die cut one of the large sunflowers using the detailed sunflower die. Die cut the other using the outline die. When cutting the detailed die, don't worry about matching the die to the stamp. You want it to look patterned. Save the center when you're popping out all of the bits.
- Die cut one of the large leaves with the detailed leaf die. Die cut the other one using the outline die. When cutting the detailed die, like above, don't stress about matching the edges to the stamped image. Only the thinnest of lines will cut and you want it to look patterned.
- Using the small leaf die, cut the four small leaves
- Using the two stem dies, cut two of the double stems and one of the single stems from the remaining Old Olive cardstock.
- Cut the sunflower center circle out of the Cinnamon Cider.
Prepping the Napkin
Cut the napkin larger than the piece of label paper. You can see how raggedly mine is. I was trying to watch myself recording the video. You're used to seeing yourself backwards in the mirror but you're not backwards when you watch yourself filmed. It was very disorienting.
Separate the napkin into layers. Some napkins have 3 layers. The back should be almost as clear as the front. If it's not, you most likely have a third layer. You can always test on a scrap of the napkin.
Lay the napkin on the table, back side facing up. Peel the backing off the label sheet and smooth onto the back of the napkin. Turn right side up and, using a credit card, smooth from the center out. I use this bookbinder's tool but an old credit card (store rewards card, gift card, etc) works perfectly. Work slowly so that you don't rip the napkin. If you get a wrinkle, don't worry. Just rotate it a little and work at it from another angle.
Note: the napkins almost never come apart that easily. I must have had some high quality napkins there.
Assembling
- Orient the card base so that the fold is on the top.
- Glue napkin layer onto white card base.
- Glue Midnight Madness layer onto Night of Navy layer and glue onto the napkin layer, approximately 1/4 inch from the bottom.
- At this point, I like the hold one of the large sunflower pieces where I plan to glue it down, but without gluing it yet. Tuck the Olive Green leaves and sprigs behind the sunflower until they're laying in a way that makes you happy. Remember that the detailed leaf die is going to be glued on top of the larger leaf. Once you're happy with your arrangement, set the sunflower aside and lift up the bottom edges of the greenery where any glue the squooshes out will be covered by the sunflower.
- Apply glue to the back of the detailed sunflower die near the hole only, glue onto the solid sunflower.
- Search your garbage for the yellow center piece of the sunflower. If you're like me, you threw it away even though I told you not to. Glue it on top of the Cinnamon Cider circle. Attach the Cinnamon Cider circle onto the sunflower using Dimensionals.
- Glue the sunflower in place, using Dimensionals.
- Add a few sequins.
Done! Don't forget to sign or stamp the back of your card with your name.
